I have had a problem for the last few weeks where plex is not getting all the metadata for new media. This has been mostly happening for TV Show and my UFC collection. When i add a new episode most of the time it will get the episode bio but not the title, date, poster or background. I would try matching and unmatching, emptying the trash, cleaning the bundles, force refresh, messing with the agents setting, basically anything i could think of but nothing worked.
After sometime of looking around the forums i found a post about the Plex Caches. Once i had found the folder (~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches) and cleared the folders of TMDb and the posters/backgrounds then all of my new media started retrieving the metadata. The only problem is i have to keep deleting the cache as i still sometimes run into this issue.
I just wanted to know if anyone else had been having this issue?
Also is there a permanent fix rather than having to delete the cache constantly?
Plex said there was an update so i did it. Then i could not access plex from another device i then proceeded server mapping and it showed 32400 i clicked apply all it did was just keep spinning and now i cant surf to any website ?
Hi,
I came home from a holiday and suddenly my Plex won't work on neither my PS3 or my Apple TV 4. My server is on a Macbook Pro and I have only one router.
Everything worked before I left for my holiday and I haven't changed any settings. Is it some kind of update that I've been missing or something new? I've been googling around, but I can't seem to find the answer, when you actually only have 1 network in your house.
I have checked that my Plex apps on my PS3 and Apple TV are up to date. I have also checked that my media server on my mac is up to date and online. And I can play my movies on my computer through the web player.
I have a Premium Pass if that makes a difference.
Please keep in mind, that I'm not overly tech-savvy.
i want to connect remote to my plex via safari web browser. so i activate the remote access and enter:
ip:32400
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
I've read through the forum. I've searched Reddit and Google but I still can't find a solution.
Mainly because I'm only having problems with one show in particular, Naruto.
I have five seasons of Naruto, and one OVA. All named and organized correctly.
I'm using TVDB, TheAnimeList and TheMovieDatabase agents. And I have Local Media Assets unchecked.
I am able to generate all data for the OVA and Season 1 correctly. But Season 2 only gathers data for half of the episodes, and its wrong. The rest of Season 2 through Season 5 don't have data at all.
Plex detects the Seasons correctly, but provides no data for the episodes.
I'm new to Plex and but it's been fairly simple up until this point. I've tried everything suggested from the Plex Dance to straight up starting over. The files are MKV so its no metadata attached.
I really have no clue why the episodes info is wrong, or missing, but Season 1 is fine.
I've attached screenshots.
I have some newly encoded videos (264/4.1) that play perfectly via plex on my two Roku XD boxes. However, they will not play on mobile devices (iPhone & iPad). They simply won't load. Further, they will not play on my Roku 2 box. On the Roku 2 I get an error message "Can't find the video."
On the very same Roku 2 box, I used Roku player and it played the video perfectly. Back to Plex, no dice.
This occurs on just a few movies, the balance of the library plays fine and I can't see anything different about the ones that won't. I've tried everything I can think of.
Can you guys think of anything????
Bosco
Agent is 'Plex Movie'
Scanner is ' plex Movie Scanner'
Cast List Source 'The Movie Database'
Some of the movies now with no actors:
The Social Network (2010)
Solaris (1972)
The Piano Teacher (2001)
Basically, lots, but not all of my movies now have no actors listed or Directors or writers.
I have the latest version of plex running on OSX El Capitan on a 2015 Macbook Pro. I've been runing plex for years with no trouble but recently it's started to freeze and lock up. When I click on the menu bar icon I get the spinning cursor. I tried deleting the executable and and deleting all the plex files and folders in the library folder but it's still freezing up. Any ideas?
Hi there yesterday i upgraded to plexpass and i updated my server but now i have the problem that Plex Server is preventing my screensaver to kick in, if i disable the server then the screensaver kicks in like a charm.
I did google for the problem but i found a ancient thread from 2009 and one from this year but i couldn't find any solutions.
Is this a know issue and are there any temporary fixes for this?
Server version = 1.0.2.2413
Hi!
My media scanner got stuck on this process:
jolt 26984 100.0 0.2 2588456 41304 ?? R 3:07AM 293:31.60 /Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex Media Scanner --analyze --item 125824,113620,114559,116608,125812,118436,118421,118433,114560,118430
The logs are not very verbose at all, just:

Here I just assume it is stuck on something in "Lokala video", but thats about it.
Any ideas guys? Sad to have to kill the process every morning.
Why must I reapply the settings outlined in red every. single. time. I access the server?
This is new, started over two to three weeks. Anyone that tries streaming remotely has a buffering issue regardless of what movie or tv show they try to stream. Mostly these are streams to ROKU devices, but I've had the issue with PLEX Web App. Everything was working fine, now endless buffering.
I tried uninstalling the PLEX app and reinstalling it. I've even moved it to a new server. Nothing has fixed this issue. This is happening even when it shows the remote user using Direct Play (no transcoding happening). The CPU is hardly being touched, bounces between 80-90% idle.
I am currently using a Mac Mini (2012)
This setup has been working for over 2 years, but like I said, last couple weeks - straight to buffering with even one remote stream Direct Play, Direct Stream or transcoding makes no difference buffering happens with Standard Definition, HD (720p) and HD (1080p) files alike.
I could really use some help. I've Google and read a bunch of article on PLEX buffering, and have had each person lower their settings in the Player...to no avail.
Hi,
I confess to struggling to understand some of the nuances of Plex still but I'm trying! I'd appreciate some help on a few points.
Totally confused at the moment so any help appreciated.
Many thanks,
Martin
After checking disk usage prior to moving from a spinning hard drive to a smaller ssd drive, I see there is a PlexMediaServer directory in my Caches Directory and within that there is PhotoTranscoder directory that is currently using over 13GB of space.
Is this normal ?
(I already have a metadata directory that is 16GB) so between them they are using over 30GB of space.
I do have a reasonably large media collection, so the size of the metadata directory does not surprise me that much, but the cache directory seems a bit big.
Can I delete the contents of the PhotoTranscoder directory in the caches folder ?
Hey, I don't know what happened but since yesterday I cannot connect to my PMS.. On Xbox One it says cannot connect to server and on PS4 it says: " You're logged in as ' username' Your PMS and device are on different subnets etc.."
My network setup: (worked without any problems for more than a year)
ISP provided Samsung modem/router combo (DHCP=on) IP = 192.168.192.1. Connected to WAN port Apple Airport Time Capsule (bridge mode, static IP: 192.168.192.2).
Disabled wifi radio's on the Samsung, all it has to do is to pass through to the Airport which acts as my (wireless) router.
Plex Media Server is installed on a Macbook Pro (wireless connection to the Airport) (static IP = 192.168.192.3) All the media files are on the internal 2tb HDD of the Airport Time Capsule.
I use Plex on both Xbox One and a PS4. Both connected by cable to the Airport. Gave them static IP's too.
All devices are on the same subnet: 255.255.255.0 and gateway: 192.168.192.1.
I tried everything, even without the Airport connected. When I only use the modem/router provided by my ISP it shows exactly the same error messages. Already did factory resets on both Airport and Samsung.
**SOLVED: there seems to be a major bug in the newest update. (July 28th). Went back to version 1.0.3.2461 and it all works like it should.
Plex, get this sorted out, been working on this for 2 days only to find out it's a bug in your newest update.. Glad it works again but also really pissed off, I'm paying you 5 euro's a month... !!**
Since the update to 1.02.2413, I have been unable to connect to the PMS via my iPad and iPhone players. Before the update, everything worked fine. Now all it get is "Direct connection unavailable". I then assigned a static IP to the PMS and added a connection to the players using the same IP and port. That didn't work. I can tell the server sees the devices as it shows up in Devices and shows the last time it saw it, but nothing is showing under Players. So it see the devices, but yet it doesn't see the players, which they are synonymous, correct? I followed their instructions on the web for app not connecting to the server, but no matter what, it never connects. And my players sees the PMS as it shows it's name, "iMac". I just don't get it and it's driving me nuts. I can only assume there has to be a bug in the updated version. Can anyone help or can PLEX please fix this bug?
My Plex app just got updated (automatically) on my Hisense Vision TV. It was working perfectly until this upgrade occurred. Now the application just opens up then immediately closes. I have factory reset the TV, and reinstalled the Plex App. No change. :(
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance;
Michael.
