I have a Sony Bravia TV and use Plex on my iMac with the latest gen ATV. All streams look good except for those that are 25fps, which result in stuttery picture. I can't seem to find a fix, whether it's a TV setting or a Plex setting. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I have been using a fantastic website called for about a year now. I can watch all the latest movies and TV shows of new and old streamed direct "FREE". It is a free site. So when can we add web sites into Plex Media Server 'Mac' so I don't have to switch off Plex just to watch programs like The Walking Dead or Movies such as Star Wars Ep7, Kung Fu Panda 3 etc. Please add this facility to make my Plex Home Theatre the Best.
I've been experiencing a strange behavior after upgrading to Version 1.0.0.2261 of Plex Server for OS X.
I run the Plex server off my iMac (running on Safari Version 9.1.1 (11601.6.17) and OS X El Captain, 10.11.5), which has its screensaver set to 1 minute.
Whenever I use the cast menu on the Plex Server to connect to either Roku or Apple TV, the screensaver never on my iMac never kicks in as if the computer was kept "awake" by something.
Reversely, if I play any media from the iOS app into my TV or use the native Plex apps on either platform, the screensaver on the Mac works just fine.
I've been using Plex with this exact setup for years so it took me a while to narrow it down to Plex (at first I assumed it was an OS X issue).
Anyone experiencing a similar behavior?

I've been using Plex for a while now and I love it. I'm running out of space on the external hard drive I use for movies and need to get a new one. The thing is - I have over 4,000 titles and many of them are so obscure, I've had to manually stitch together my own metadata, posters, etc.
I just tried relocating a test folder to an external drive and it re-scanned all the files. Is there some way to keep or relocate the existing metadata without having to enter it all over again manually?
Any guidance appreciated. Apologies if this is an old question.
The server is an old 8-core mac pro tower with 32GB RAM, running Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8), running the free version of 2.4.7.

If i downgrade to 1.0.0.2261-a17e99e all the DTS logos (non-HD MA) re-appear. All other logos can be seen in the web interface (DTS MA , TRUE HD and so on). How do I get the DTS logo back in version: 1.0.1.2396-c094d0d
Please can you post a step-by-step process, as all old methods posted by plex staff are not valid because Media flags bundle is integrated in app and not separated as it was of old.
So I updated last night and now Plex Media server wont start on my mac - i have run disk permissions and reinstalled :(
When I click the media server icon it bounces once and a space appears on my header menu to create the icon but it never appears

Quick story. I have been using Plex regularly for a year or 2 with the server set up on my iMac and having 0 issues. My hard drive crashed, apple installed a replacement, and I restored from my Time Machine backup. I went to open PMS and it won't open. The > doesn't come up on the top bar or anything. I reinstalled PMS and still nothing. There isn't even a Plex folder under Application Support or logs. I tried to follow instructions on why Plex won't start but the folders aren't even there. Its like its not installing correctly. I'm sorry I don't have tons of knowledge in this so hopefully its something simple i'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Server on my iMac show status as plex accessible outside my home network but it's not. Initially it does work for a while (maybe a day) then it stops working even while status showing as accessible on the server settings menu.
If I disable the remote access and the re-enable it (WITHOUT shutting the server down and restarting) then it is accessible outside my home network again.
So the plex media server becomes inaccessible outside my home network even though the server status shows as accessible. The server is always accessible and running properly within my home network.
This is a new behavior since the latest update or two

I'm new on here, so I'm sorry if this issue has already been posted.
I used the Plex Media Server via the Roku app to watch TV shows on my home television for about a year. LOVED IT! About 6ish months ago, I updated the Plex Media Server. Ever since I did this, whenever I open the Plex Media Server by going to the Applications folder, on my MacBook Air, a Plex tab opens up in Google Chrome (like it used to) and the Plex icon appears next to my Bluetooth icon at the top of the screen. In the upper left-hand corner of the Chrome window, under the home button, it just says 'Looking for servers...' and an orange circle spins continuously.
When I go into the Plex app on Roku, it says 'We couldn't locate a server'. At the top of the screen, it says No Servers with an arrow. Underneath that, it says MacBook Pro. When I click on it, it says MacBook connection state: unreachable. Please sign into your server and check your connection.
When I go into Settings within the Plex web app, it doesn't list a server. It just says Web, Users, and Devices (of which my MacBook and my Roku are listed).
I just have a simple ATT home wifi network that I connect my Roku and my MacBook Air to. I have read over quite a few of the troubleshooting articles and FAQs to no avail. I am at a loss and am kicking myself for updating Plex when it worked just fine previously. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm not exactly a tech wizard, so I'm hoping that it's simply a setting that needs to be changed. Thank you for taking the time to help!
first, I am very appreciate to use plex for my media server, it is very powerful.
but when I add the library as below, it match the TV shown to duplicate, I have try many times, it still the same。
as shown below, there are 6 seasons in the folder. but when I add them to the library, there are only 4 season folders
as shown below, only season1,4,5,6
and in season 1, there are 3 duplicate files for each
in the attribution of each episode there are 3 files as below
now I am very cray for this, how can I solve it.

Not sure if this is a bug or what but since updating to the latest version of Media Server for Mac, I can't delete items from playlists in Safari. Am however able to from the iPhone app.

I am trying to setup Plex on an old MacBook (running Snow Leopard). This is my old laptop, which I was hoping to use to store and stream all my media. I cannot run the latest version of Plex, because it seems it is not compatible with my old computer. I have tried to download several older versions of Plex, which run, but I can't figure out how to set up the server to stream to my Roku's Plex app to stream to my TV.
Any advice?

"Universal TV"? a separate setting for apple Tv would be nice. also an option to remove original files once the transcodes are completed.

I run my plex server on a late 2013 mac pro.
While the quad core CPU is sufficient, there's two GPUs in the system which can be used for compute via OpenCL.
Has anyone here managed to enable OpenCL hardware acceleration on their plex transcoder (or ffmpeg) on OS X, to make use of the GPUs?

It seems like my PMS is doing a full media analysis of my entire library. I use Meraki networking gear at home and noticed that starting the day I updated from 0.9.17.2.2159, my PMS was pulling 200-300GB of data from my NAS every morning between 2AM and 5AM. This lined up with scheduled task run times, so I enabled debug logging and now am seeing Butler scheduling full media analysis of file after file after file, seemingly without end. This has been going on for over a week now.
I'm going to try setting the run hours for the scheduled tasks to a considerably longer period of time, and hope that PMS can just churn its way through the data and be done, but my questions are:
1. Why would PMS suddenly do this upon updating?
2. Is there any way to stop the scan?
3. If there is no way to stop the scan, is there at least any way to determine progress made by the scanner?
So I'm finally fed up so completely with iTunes that I'm looking to stop using it entirely; increasingly poor performance and a continuing lack of h.265 support are the final nails in its coffin, as I'm sick of my media library being double the size that it needs to be just to remain compatible with a program that Apple insists on making worse with every new release.
Rant aside, I've been using Plex Media Server on my main machine for a while now for streaming to a Mac Mini that I have in my living room, but until now I've been continuing to use iTunes locally for music playback for the ease of use via Home Sharing, since my media library is hosted under its own user account, while I use two other accounts for work and general use.
On the Mac Mini I'm using OpenPHT as a client, and am very pleased with it, however, while the interface is great for a remote it's a bit clunky for keyboard/mouse, and it also seems to prevent my computer from sleeping. The latter isn't a major issue I guess, since I can still put my computer to sleep manually, but it's inconvenient as sometimes I like to leave my computer awake if a Time Machine backup is running, safe in the knowledge it'll go to sleep when that's done.
So I'm wondering if there are any alternatives out there that are more music focused, but can still use my Plex shared music library? I've tried a few other music players, but haven't noticed any that support Plex as a media source yet.
Hi, since a few weeks my server will only serve 480p to my remote users. Doesn't matter what they have set as remote quality. Only on direct play they will get what they have set.
Some month ago there was an option to limit remote quality but it hasn't been active. Maybe it is active now and using my set preferences from that time?

From looking at Activity Monitor, Seems that PMS (through curl) is downloading a bunch of random movies. Is this some kind of setting I can disable?

I've been running PMS on my iMac for a while, with my media stored on two external hard drives attached to the iMac (one drive for Movies and one for TV Shows). I'm running out of room on the external drives so I've decided to move all the content to one large NAS device. The problem I'm facing is that I've made lots of edits to the metadata for my content (custom descriptions for every single movie being the largest), and I don't want to lose any of that data.
I know that I could go into PMS, delete the reference to the old external drives and then point to the folders on the NAS, but that appears to delete everything and start from scratch (re-downloading metadata, posters, etc. and losing my custom metadata).
How can I move my Plex media library to a new device and have the existing entries in the database for each file simply point to the new location, thus preserving my custom metadata?

Is anyone else having an issue with 1.0.1 and Mountain Lion? I did the server update, then it would crash instantly. Reverted back to 1.0.0.2261 and everything is fine. So I tried the upgrade again, failed again, and reverted back.
Perhaps this is the last update for me until I upgrade from Mtn Lion?
