Have an x box one in the house when it is used to watch utube videos, they show up on my plex running on my blu ray player.
Is this normal, can it be avoided.?

Remote Apple TV Stomping all over my network
i have a friend who has the new apple tv. When he is watching (720P 4mb) my internal network goes haywire. I have 10 other friends on everything else possible with no issues.
100/20 mb comcast business class connection. Normal ping times to 8.8.8.8 (google) are sub 20 ms all day. When he is watching with his apple tv, the average in the 400ms range but about 20% of the pings are over 4000 ms and as high as 8000ms. The moment he turns off the apple tv it goes back to normal.
Any ideas or thoughts?

Audio Static with Sonos / MacMini
I just got a new Sonos Playbar and am having problems with audio where is a static / chatter instead of audio.
Path: MacMini --> HDMI --> Panasonic TV --> Optical Cable --> Sonos
I have tried pretty much every permutation of audio output settings in Plex but can't figure out what to set it. The puzzling thing is that my PS4 works fine (using Dolby Bitstream as the preferred output). So I suspect that my TV is passing through the audio correctly, but still am puzzled on what to do to get the Plex output to work. (I have even tried rebooting)
Any suggestions of what I need to do?

Plex Media Server Preventing Display Sleep
Hi,
I run PMS on Mac 10.11.4 (El Capitan) in my bedroom, on the Plex Pass update Channel - currently version 1.0.0.2261. The display/monitor for the mac is set in OS X preferences to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity (but not the Mac itself) - for the past several years this has worked fine. However in the last few weeks or so, I've noted that it no longer turns off, and it appears that Plex Media Server is the culprit.
If I launch Terminal and use the command "pmset -g assertions", one of the responses under the "Listed by owning process" section is the below:
pid 48132(Plex Media Server): [0x00077c4d00051eed] 28:22:46 PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep named: "PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep"
Is anyone in a similar boat? Can anyone from the Plex team/community help me get my display automatically turning off again? Appreciate any help that you guys can offer!

Remote access
I have seen issues on the forum regarding remote access not working since upgrade to version 1.0.0.2261.
What is causing this or a general bug ? Is there a fix ?
I see some people downgrading to an earlier version but not certain how this works ?

PMS 1.0 breaks DTS HD MA identification/tags in PHT/PMP etc.
All movies with DTS HD MA added since updating to 1.0 are identified merely as "DTS Digital Surround" now instead of "DTS HD Master Audio." Rolling back to the previous version of PMS and then re-adding (i.e. removing movies, update library, re-adding movies, update library) fixes this issue.
Any word from the devs on whether they're aware of this?

Plex Server keeps shutting down
Hi all,
Since I updated to the newest version for both the server and the home theater I can't get Plex Server tu run properly. After I clean installed it again it worked for a while, but after I did a reboot of my mac mini it stopped woring yet again... I don't really want to lose all my libraries and watched status yet again. Is there any other way to fix this? I already tryed some older versions (down to 9.11.7) but that didn't help...

PMS not saving watched or partially watched state
Hi, my Plex Media Server has just stopped saving the point where I stop watching and also it would not automatically mark episodes as watched when I complete a show. It does remember what I have market as watched, it just doesn't do it automatically. Does anyone know what this problem could be?
I have tried reinstalling Plex Media Server and also Plex Home Theater with no luck.
The problem is the same for every user account on every other platform that shares the Server on my LAN.
Also, while playing something on my TV, I used to be able to see what is being watched by each individual user when logging into the web interface. However, now Plex Media Server does not appear to 'notice' that anything is being watched.
I have checked if I have the latest version of PMS, which I believe I do (1.0.0.2261).
If I need to get some form of log data, please advise where / how to get this. Thanks.

Transcoding optimization question
I'm running my Plex server off a Mac Pro tower, 8-core: Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5500 series processors with 32 GB of RAM. The OS is Snow Leopard (osx 10.6.8). It's pretty much dedicated to the task of running the server.
I have about a dozen friends with whom I share the library, but almost never is there more than 2 people watching at once, myself included. My question is "what can I get away with" in terms of transcoding settings to give my friends the best possible image quality without choking. I realize a lot has to do with their setup and that's all over the map.
I haven't been able to find a passmark for this machine. CPUbenchmark looks kind of PC-centric and Google tells me nothing. I ran verbose logging while someone was watching a movie earlier tonight. The speed listings orbited around 20, sometimes as high as 40, occasionally as low as 3 and - fleetingly - 8145. (!)
Right now, I have the server set to 720p/4mbps for remote connections, but I'm wondering if I have the headroom to do 1080p at 8mbps. Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Multiple instances of Plex routine running in background
Hi,
I have a MacMini that was running over 100 degrees Celsius for a number of days. I don't have all the details since I fixed the issue but here is what happened.
I checked the Mac OSX activity monitor and noticed there were four instances of a Plex routine running in the background. Even if I closed Plex, they were still running. Anyway, closing all four eventually dropped my CPU temperature to 60 Celsius.
I have turned off Debug. I don't really want to go looking for the log file. Plex is now running but was this a scanning job that ran four times? Is that possible?

There was a problem installing the update.

What to do?

Plex Media Scanner - not updating library (automatically or on schedule)
Hi there,
I'm having a little problem with the updating of my PMS library of both TV Shows & Movies.
To elaborate further, this is my current setup:
1. PMS installed on Mac Mini
2. Both TV Shows/Movies are housed in my Synology box
3. Folder is mapped onto Mac Mini via AFP.
4. Folders and files to both TV Shows and Movies are in accordance to the recommended structure from Plex.
Previously both auto and schedule library updates did automatically detect changes to both TV Shows and Movies folders when changes were made (e.g. Adding a new series or a new movie).
I recently performed a reboot to my Mini and after which the updating of my media files became a bit wonky. The initial library update worked and the subsequent ones failed to be invoked. I've tried the scheduled (15 mins) and it fails as well.
Any help would be much appreciated.

FLAC files with CUE?
Hi, lately I've received a bunch of FLAC lossless audio. Most of the audio is one file per disc with a .cue file that matches up to the tracks. This doesn't appear to be supported in Plex 9, although something I read said it was definitely supported in Plex 8. Am I doing something wrong, or is it something no longer supported?

How do I remove Plex's access to photos and music?
I don't like the fact that when I open plex I see my "recently added photos" and "recently added music". I downloaded the app specifically for the Channels feature and possibly watching videos from my laptop in the future.
I'm super OCD and perfectionist and it's really frustrating there's no easy way to do this. I don't want to see my photos in my home page when I access Plex from my Roku. Is there a way to hide this? I deleted them from the main folder and updated but it did nothing. Thanks for any help.

Issues connecting to PMS over LAN and on Apps
Hi all,
I'm having issues connecting to the server, using SmartHub on Samsung TV, Plex on Apple TV (multiple Apple TVs in different locations external to my home/server), Plex on Roku and also on iOS Phones.
When I try to connect, it attempts to connect for a while, then says "Unable to connect to server, please select a different one" and lists the connection as "Direct connection unavailable".
This is an intermittent issue - when I restart the server, everything works ok for a period (mins to hour), then it occurs again. Doesn't matter which app I try to use to connect to the server, it happens on all of them. Funny thing is, I also use VLC Mobile on the Apple TV and it actually connects to/through the PMS and works fine!
Everything was working ok previously, but this seems to have occurred since a recent upgrade to Version 1.0.0.2261. It also occurred a few versions ago (possibly before moving to version 1.0 etc.) but seemed to resolve.
I'm not sure if others are having the same issues since upgrading, or if it has been reported and may get fixed in an upcoming upgrade?
Be interested to hear other's ideas and/or similar experiences.

Performance of Mac mini as a server - doing some research, need some advice
Hi everyone -
I am looking into buying a Mac mini to use as a dedicated Plex server. Was wondering if anyone is using the current low end model (1.4GHz Intel Core i5 Dual-Core, 4GB of RAM
500GB 5400 rpm HD), and if so how it performs serving to an Apple TV?
I'm not opposed to getting the next model up, but if the low end model works without any lag I figure I'd save some money, as I will be buying this STRICTLY as a plex server.
