So my server goes offline but not straight after Mac goes into sleep. In Mac settings I have allowed Mac to wake for network and not allowed hard drive to sleep but still this happens.
With the Plex settings I have everything as it should be.
Has anyone had similar issues or know how to fix this problem.

Now playing used to show everyone and what device they are watching on. Slowly it seemed to lose people, yet they tell me they are watching things all the time. Now it only shows my personal account and what device I'm watching on.
I keep the plex server very up to date. Has this changed recently?

Need Help. Plex Media Server is running only when I launch it from my Mac, and not from my Qnap directly(after installing the NAS Plex server) too. Only when I run it from my Mac, it works on Qnap as well. How do I make the Qnap to run the PMS independently in order to access remotly?
Plex Media Server prompts for firewall permissions on each launch, even though it's on the allowed list under Firewall in System Preferences.
The reason is that once started, Python will store bytecode versions of the Plex code as .pyc files within /Applications/Plex Media Server.app. This breaks Gatekeeper code signing, since the Application has been "tampered with" by adding files. That's what causes the repeated firewall prompts.
When first unpacked, and before first launch, the signature is fine:
$ codesign --verify --deep --verbose=1 /Applications/Plex\ Media\ Server.app/
/Applications/Plex Media Server.app/: valid on disk
/Applications/Plex Media Server.app/: satisfies its Designated Requirement
After first launch, the signature is no longer valid, because a bunch of .pyc files were generated by the Python runtime:

I run PMS on Mac 10.11.4 (El Capitan) in my bedroom, on the Plex Pass update Channel - currently version 1.0.0.2261. The display/monitor for the mac is set in OS X preferences to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity (but not the Mac itself) - for the past several years this has worked fine. However in the last few weeks or so, I've noted that it no longer turns off, and it appears that Plex Media Server is the culprit.
If I launch Terminal and use the command "pmset -g assertions", one of the responses under the "Listed by owning process" section is the below:

I have been running Plex for about 6 months with no hassles whatsoever.
I use Plex through a Mac & the AppleTV app.I am currently running the new 1.0.0.2261 server version.
Plex had always automatically added my movie/tv show files to the Plex library as soon as they stopped downloading.
Last week my mac started playing up & I factory reset it (to no avail with fixing the initial Mac problem).
After this I had to re-install Plex & servers.This is when I noticed My downloaded files were not being automatically
added to library.
Now I have bought a new Mac ,installed Plex & server and still the same thing.
I read on the forum about de-selecting the (Update my library automatically) Button & then selecting again.
I have tried this & problem still persists.
I also read here about naming my library folders correctly (This confused me more) as I had never had to name Library folders before & it worked perfectly, adding movies to movies folder ,tv shows to tv folders & also adding metadata correctly.
Can someone please help me ,

I'm running most recently updated version of PMS (1.0.0.2261) and usually access through the app on safari on my mac (OSX El Capitan). I access 2 friends' servers remotely and have done so for over 2 years without issue. I know the servers are online (as I can access the content on the iphone app) but for the last 4 days it just says 'server unavailable'. i haven't changed anything about the setup of the router or internet connection and it runs via ethernet. the phone works over the same connection via wifi.
i have tried disconnecting the router and resetting and then restarting the PMS but apart from that i have no idea where to start to troubleshoot the problem. its the same when trying to access it from the macbook.
There is no issue with accessing my content either remotely with the laptop or via the computer itself, its just the 2 friends' remote servers.

Have Plex running on an old Mac Mini and it's worked great. Just upgraded to a brand new, bigger, faster Mac Mini and it's having lots of problems. I have a single drive that has tons of movies and TV episodes and when I had the new server just scanning for movies on the drive, it worked fine (though it ignored my TV episodes). Then I added the same drive as "TV Shows" (since I didn't know how else to get it to see both, as I had set up without incident on my old server) and now it launches on the Mac server, runs for a minute or two, then crashes. Here's what's in the log:

Note that I can't ever get to it with the 127.0.0.1 links so I can't touch its configuration or do anything else to tweak it. I'm also darn curious who "admin/jenkins" is since I have no user of that name on my computer... ??

I don't mind deleting all of my settings to date on the new server. And would appreciate suggestions on how to get it to serve up both movies and TV show episodes (differentiated with "sXXeXX" in the filename) too!

I have been having some issues using Plex at my new house. In the past I have always run the Plex software on my MacBook, I would then just stream it over my WiFi provided from AT&T to my Roku. I never had a problem at the old house, but the new house is not near a major city so the internet is just slower. This causes bad buffering problems when I try to play anything from my HDD using Plex. Even on the lowest video setting it will still causes buffering issues. I am able to stream Netflix and other streaming services fine using my Roku. Is there any other way I can set up playback? I had someone saw I can stream over LAN, but I'm not real sure how to set it up. I only have a small amount of computer knowledge. Would I need an extra computer that would be used as a server? Can I set something up that would just stream from my Mac to the Roku and would just skip my WiFi? Any info would be helpful. Again I do not know too much so any step by step articles would be great. Thank you in advance.
PMS defaults to searching Freebase for new content and it sucks. The MovieDB always makes the right match the first time. How can we disable this freebase junk?
I am running Plex Media Server version 1.0.0.2261 on an iMac running OS X 10.11.5. It runs just long enough to look at the server General settings then it crashes consistently. I've attached the crash log and the normal log. I can't see what the problem is.

Been running Plex on my Mac via the Roku stick for months with no issues. Suddenly (in the last 2 days) it has become very sluggish (couldn't load Netflix) and movies have now begun to repeatedly stop and "reload"...taking about 5-10 minutes to start up again after each stoppage.
I mean WOW. What happened??
I know it has been asked before, in the past.
but is the situation still the same ??
which means that it is practically impossible to stop Plex from transcoding ??
Since updating to Version 1.0.0.2261, PMS no longer marks any movies or TV shows as watched.
I've been marking them manually, but sometimes that doesn't seem to "stick", and the next time I launch PMS those same shows will appear as unwatched again.
It definitely started immediately following the update... assuming it must be a bug?
Any ideas how to solve this?

I recently got plex pass for my Macbook, and when I click the arrow to sync, it shows all my devices except the actual laptop I am using. I am trying to sync the item to the macbook so I can watch it offline. Is there a way to get the computer to show up as a device to sync to?
I have tried repeatedly over the last six months to get PHT to run on my Mac Pro 2014 (OSX 10.9.5 currently). The old Plex app worked and continues to work just fine.
I'm a bit shocked by how inconsistent the information on the Plex website is relating to this and how many threads there are already on this forum complaining about this kind of issue with no resolution over many months. I have tried versions from PlexHomeTheater-1.2.2.331 to PlexHomeTheater-1.1.4.297. None of them work.
Here's the problem:
1. The installation instructions for PHT (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201241357) say "Installation is always via an installation package". But when you download the installer, you don't get a an installation package. You just get a zipped up application.
2. When I run the application, it just quits. Immediately. Every time.
3. The only solution suggested on any of the many threads on this topic is to set <webserver> to false in Library/Application Support/Plex home Theater/Userdata/guisettings.xml. But I can't do that because that file doesn't exist. The only thing in the Plex home Theater/Userdata folder is a folder called keymaps containing a file called Mira Keyboard Extras.xml.
