After the latest update of PMS the last positions of films and tv series are not being saved in the position that I've left them, making me have to start again! Anyone else got this issue?
Last position not working!
PMS 1.0.0 "unable to play media" when shuffling from main TV show screen
Just a heads up in case anyone else has this problem ...
Since upgrading to PMS 1.0.0, I get the following error when trying to shuffle TV shows from the main TV show screen:
Unable to play media: Please check that this file exists
If I go to All Episodes and then shuffle, everything is fine.
The computer is a 2012 Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5, all files are stored locally on external hard drives, and I verified that PMS had the correct file paths for several files in the TV shows I tried shuffling. I updated the PMS libraries, emptied trashes, optimized the database, and cleaned bundles. No luck. Thinking perhaps there was a permissions problem, I changed all permissions in the hard drives to 777 and removed all extended attributes (the @ permission), but that didn't help either.
In the end, I rolled back to PMS 0.9.16 (link below if anyone needs it), and now the problem is fixed. As a bonus, episodes now are correctly marked as watched after I watch them.
Player problem
I am running the latest version of the Plex server on my Mac Mini and the same for the player on my Android and Mac Mini.
Recently, when I try to play a TV show and want to control it via Android app, no player is showing.
If I play it via Mac Mini remote control, after an episode ends, it doesn't show it as watched, it's like it doesn't sync anymore.
This problem seems to happen only to the TV shows and not movies so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Can you guys help? Thanks!
OSX Rollback Update
Since no amount of searching seems to be turning anything up, figured I'd post here.
So, it turns out the latest Plex Server update is no longer compatible with my version of OSX. It would have been nice if the updater had checked for that first before installing, but thankfully the updater keeps all installed versions on file. All you need to do to roll back is the following:
Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Updates (if your home library folder is hidden, go to Finder->Go->Go To Folder... and enter the full path).
There you'll see a list of folders with various version names. Within each version folder there will be a folder called "packages", containing a manifest file and a zip.
Copy the zip somewhere (ie, a temp folder) and decompress it. You'll be left with a folder called "Contents".
Find the Plex Media Server.app file in your Applications folder, right click it and select "show contents".
Delete the Contents folder within the app, and copy the newly unzipped Contents folder there instead.
Run the application.
You should be back up and running your previous version of choice.
Hope this helps and is not too redundant. Why there is no longer any option to install older versions of Plex Server is beyond me - the minimum system requirements just suddenly changed and there's no official way to go back.
How can I stream my home videos to my TV?
I downloaded plex mediaserver for mac. It shows up in my tv. But I always get the message that there is no content in it. What did I do wrong. Can sombody tell me step by step, what I have to do in oder to stream my home videos? I would be very thankful.
TV Show Episode Names Reset
Hello,
I was recently given a rather large DVD collection which consists of about 50 dvd's Each one is a different documentary on a different part of the world. I have been encoding them to MP4 and putting them in my plex server under a folder like the following.
TV Shows\Unforgettable Journeys\Season 1\Unforgettable Journeys - S01E01 - The Caribean.mp4
However these cannot be found through imdb or tvdb so I manually edited each one to set the title and Sort, I also set the cover art for the episodes.
However everytime I add another episode all of my previously modified episodes go back to showing titles of Episode 1, Episode 2, etc.
Is there a bug in the latest server version? Am I doing something incorrect when setting up my directory structure?

Database corruption after last update?
These errors happened in the log after the update

Obviously the PMS Web is saying things like "There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard" and when trying to optimize the library "an error occurred"
Whats the deal here? Update corrupted the database? Do i need to restore from backup?
M4V audio issue
I get nothing but static when trying to play .m4v movies in Plex. The audio tracks are AC3 stereo. They work fine in other programs.
Subtitles don't work ; need to enable manually
Followed the instructions as in the "Subtitles Screencast", followed naming conventions, etc, but it does't work :
The only way for me to see subtitles is to browse for them manually.
The 'bullet' in the audio/subtitles menu in Plex is NOT on by default, 'Subtitles' says 'none'
Media folder setup :
Dexter
|-> Season 5
|-> Dexter - S05E01.avi
|-> Dexter - S05E01.srt
Tried with adding 'nl' tag (for Dutch subtitles) to the set, so like 'Dexter - S05E01.nl.srt", but doesn't help
Same problem with movies !
In PMS, Ive set :
Plex Media Server :
* Preferences : Subtitle mode = always
* Prefer subtitles in = Nederlands (=Dutch)
In Media Manager I have set :
Personal Media shows :
- Local Media Assets
- Personal Media Shows
- Opensubtitles.org
The TVDB :
- Local media assets
- the tvdb
- personal media shows
- opensubtitles.org
Refreshed metadata, stopped/started Plex (& PMS), but nothing helps :(
Any help is greatly appreciated :)
//edit : I would be more than happy if Plex just plays the subs I put with the show/movie :)
Remote Access says it's enabled, but can't connect locally or from outside the network
The support info I've read seems to indicate that this is a problem with jumbo frames, but I can't find any hard info on how to enable/disable jumbo frames anywhere. I reset and updated my router and have it set to disable them, but this connection problem persists. PMS was working just a few days ago, and all I can think of is that the most recent update somehow glitched my connections. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Multiple Cuts Of Movie
This made me think, what is the correct way of dealing with multiple versions of the same movie in Plex?
Ideally, what I'd like is for the movie to only be listed once in the client, but then it to offer the multiple versions when selecting it.
There's been a few other movies that I've recently ripped which have had multiple versions too (Salt, Green Lantern & Horrible Bosses are three that I can remember off the top of my head)... but as I didn't know what the correct thing to do was I only gave Plex my favourite version (usually the Directors or Extended cut) and stored the other version elsewhere.
HELP, since I've updated plex it's not playing mkv files!
Since I've updated plex it will not play mkv files no matter how much I try or mess with things on the plex media server it does nothing I'm stumped now and don't know what to do any help? I'm running it on my apple tv3 through plex connect from a Mac
Adding custom tags
Plex comes 'out of the box' with two types of tags: Genre and Collection. I would like to add my own user-defined tag - for example: Date Watched. Can this be done? If so, how?
Please help - Plex started crashing on Mac OS
I am running OS X El Capitain, 10.11.5, and recently my Plex app has started crashing, and I can't use Plex anymore at all.
I am running Plex Server VERSION 1.0.0.2261-A17E99E and receive the following message: "The selected server is unreachable. Make sure it's running, double check your network, and try again."
Once in a while, my server is available and everything looks fine, but after a few seconds, the app crashes and the server is unreachable again.
Here is a part of a crash report, but I have no idea what this means. Can anyone maybe help me? I would be super grateful. Thank you!

Problem with Music and Labelling
Hi
I used to run Plex Version 0.9.16.6 and a ReadyNAD 312. Everything worked hunky dory.
I decided to get myself a 2014 mac mini which has El Capitan on it.
I copied all my media (videos, films, tv shows, photos, music etc) over onto the Mac Mini which is also running Plex Version 0.9.16.6
I let it go off and scan my media and it worked fine. However the Music scan is a problem. I have noticed that if I go into an album for some of the artists (not all) it shows the name of the song but with a load of ////////////////// after the song name
I am using last.fm as the agent and but not using embedded tags. I have scanned it a couple of times and still get the same result. Didn't have this problem on my Readynas
Any ideas?
Something might be seriously broken with Plex Server on Mac
So I had Plex Server running on my Mac Mini with El Capitan. The movies are stored on the Drobo NAS on the same local network. My clients were Xbox One and Apple TV 4. In both cases I've experienced terrible buffering problems; every 10 minutes or so the movie would stop and resume only after 2-3 minutes, After 10 minutes or so, it happened again. It didn't matter if there were BluRay rips or DVD rips (in my case all movies are packed into mkv containers with Flac sound.
I tried many things: wired /wireless network, direct play on/off, messed with settings on Plex server, on AppleTV tried alternative client (Simplex) None made any difference: The buffering problems persisted and it was basically impossible to enjoy the movie. Out of desperation, I took my unused Windows 10 laptop, installed the Plex Server on it and pointed it to the same Drobo NAS with mkvs. On the client I switched the server and voila, everything started to work smoothly, no buffering whatsoever.
To me this may suggest that there possibly is some fundamental flaw with the Mac version of the Plex server. I still have both servers on. Please let me know if you need more information on my configuration in if this is useful to help debugging the problem.
I know many experience buffering issues with Apple TV client. Maybe the problem is not with the Apple TV but with the server (Mac version).
Alex Taking approx. 30 seconds to respond
Hi there,
I am having an issue with my Plex Media Server.
Everything is running fine, I can access my files via Xbox etc, however on my mac, every time I click on the Plex icon on the top right menu bar to access the Media Manager etc, it takes approx. 30 seconds to load, and I have the spinning ball.
The rest of the machine works fine, however I have noticed that Safari is also non-responsive in this ~30 second period. After waiting, everything works as it should, it's just a little annoying having to wait every time I want to access Plex.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Plex Version: 0.9.12.4

OSX Server Unavailable, but only to some ... what's going on?
My Plex Server runs on OSX, latest versions of everything.
My dad, who logs into my Plex server remotely via a Roku, has been complaining that he's getting "server unavailable" messages. He's not terribly computer literate, so I thought he was probably just doing something wrong, but now my wife is having the same trouble with her iOS app on her phone. Yet, at the same time, I am able to access the server just fine on my iPhone, and when my dad was having trouble I went and checked the server itself on the Mac Mini it's running on and everything looked normal.
I've browsed a few recent threads in this subforum, and it appears there may be some issues with the latest version of Plex Server for OSX. I also see some complaints of a lot of buffering, and I've been experiencing some of that as well, whereas I never really had problems before. Should I roll back to the previous version of Plex Server for OSX? Is that possible?
