Why isn't there a heads up on the latest PLEX Media Server update telling about no 10.6.8 support
I checked the update info before I downloaded it and I didn't see anything it about it not working on 10.6.8. It was pretty disappointing to see the new PLEX application with a slashed circle. I'm only saying to at least give a warning beforehand so people running 10.6.8 don't download and try to install it.
I downloaded the new update and then the updater crashed. Why? Because the new PLEX Media Server application doesn't run on Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I had to look around for a backup PMS 0.9.16.6 application which is now apparently the last version of PMS to run on Snow Leopard. I'm in the unfortunate position that my iMac isn't upgradeable to a newer OS at this point as I don't have enough disk space to allow it to update. I can theoretically move my entire PMS database and Media Drive to my MacMini running El Capitan but I really don't want to be bothered right now. I'm not complaining about you leaving older Mac OSes behind. I'm only asking for a warning beforehand.

Subtitles out of Sync
I've been doing a lot of research to try and figure this out myself but I haven't been very successful.
I have a set of subtitles for a movie. They both match in length and play perfectly in sync in VLC and when previewed in Aegisub.
For whatever reason the subs are about 2 sec early when turned on in Plex. I have no idea how to fix this. I've been looking hoping to find an in-Plex setting that would allow me to adjust the delay in the subs but apparently there isn't one. This is happening on my browser (chrome), iphone, ipad and PS3. Anyone have any fix that I can apply to all my devices?

No subtitles loaded
Hi, since latest versions (two days ago and today) i have issues loading subtitles. Two days ago, no subtitles loaded and recognized since i manually had to eliminate from my directory and copied again, then subtitles appears on server, today, i reset server, app, everything and subtitles are not loaded!!! i shut down my mac, and turn it on again, try everything and subtitles doesn't load on plex server. few minutes ago i installed the new version (appears to install after reset my MBP) but... no subs.

Trouble streaming video files stored on an external hard drive
I have a the Plex Media Server saved to my macbook and I have no problems playing video files saved no my computer through Apple TV (through the app). However my macbook can only store so many videos on it, so I also have an external hard drive plugged into my Airport Extreme. I have added the folders on this external hard drive to my Plex library and the video contents all appear in Plex, but when I play them the videos usually cut out.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can improved the infastructure so these videos play smoothly?
My apple TV is connected to my router with an eternet cable.
I am using 802.11ac wifi

How can I stream my home videos to my TV?
I downloaded plex mediaserver for mac. It shows up in my tv. But I always get the message that there is no content in it. What did I do wrong. Can sombody tell me step by step, what I have to do in oder to stream my home videos? I would be very thankful.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 NOT supported anymore
It would have been nice if someone at Plex could have included in the updater, that it could not install due to Mountain Lion being required, instead it over wrote my Plex server 9.16.6 version of plex with a version that will not run on my Macintosh. The only backup I had was Plex Server 9.15.6, which got me up and running again.
Is there anyway to get the last version that did run on Snow Leopard?

Disable Thumbnails in a Personal Media Folder
Hello,
I was wondering is its possible to disable the auto generated thumbnails for files in a personal media folder?
I utilize a personal media folder for some sporting events I watch and many times the thumbnail that is auto generated happens to use a frame from the end of the file and the results of the sporting event are ruined before I even get to watch!
I know we can use a folder.jpg to create a background/icon for these folders but is it possible to just disable the auto generated thumbnails? Or at worse how could I create my own thumbnail for these files?

Stream constantly freezing remotely
Hey everyone. I have been trying to figure this out, but have had no luck. My stream will freeze when watching any content remotely. About an hour or so into any movie, (mp4, avi, m4v) the stream will freeze telling me there is an issue with the connection and i should try lowering my settings. Lowering the quality still produces the same error. My upload speed is 20mbps, sometimes more, so internet is not the issue. Happens on IOS, xbox, web, android, and probably everything else. Tried using Verbose logs to find any connection drops below 1mbps, had nothing below 3mbps. Im updated to latest version of osx, and latest version of plex. Restart's do nothing. Hardware is a mac mini (late 2014) with 2.6ghz i5, 8 gb ram, 1tb 5400 rpm drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PMS & PHT no long working correctly
Hi all,
I have had to replace my MacMini as it sadly passed away. I had it running PMS & PHT and was directly connected to my TV. I had to reinstall PMS & PHT from scratch and let PMS pull down all the Movie/TV Show info from the internet. It took just under 14 hours to fully pull down all the Movie/TV metadata. I am now having a few problems since downloading the latest versions of PMS (1.0.0.2261) and PHT (1.4.469-47a90f01). These are as follows:
- Plex web no longer shows what is playing from any of my devices.
- If I try to play an entire season of anything by pressing play on the season I get an error message saying “Unable to play media Please check that this file exists and the necessary drive is mounted”. The drive is mounted and I can play a single episode of the season just not the whole season. It does this for every tv show I have.
- It not longer marks episodes/movies as watched when I watch them I have to mark them as watched manually.
- I have to run a full library update on my TV Shows and Movies if I add any new files in.
I know these seem small problems but it was working perfectly until my old MacMini died.
Hopefully some of you lovely people in Plex land will be able to offer some advice please and thank you in advance.
My MacMini Spec is in case its needed: Intel Core i5 2.6GHz, 8Gb RAM (late 2014 Model).

Allow managed users to delete content
I just created multiple managed users under my Plex account. I found out that they can no longer delete shows. Is there a permission somewhere to allow managed users to delete content?

File management - how do you handle your library files?
So, I've crossed the 1000 movie threshold. With that, I've had to expand my data storage. My question for everyone is "how do you store your library files?"
What I mean is, do you put all 1000 movie folders into a single folder called movies? Or do you somehow break it up for file management purposes? For purposes of this question, I'm not talking about anything within the Plex Media Server, I'm talking about the straight file structure on your server.
I'm just looking for best practices.

Multiple Cuts Of Movie
Theatrical release, directors cut...
So today I've just ripped the Apocalypse Now Blu-Ray, and for those that don't have it on disc 1 of the box set is Apocalypse Now 153 minutes (original 1979 theatrical release) and Apocalypse Now Redux 202 minutes (2001). Both are 1080, 5.1 DTS Master Audio, etc., the extra 49 minutes is the only difference.This made me think, what is the correct way of dealing with multiple versions of the same movie in Plex?
Ideally, what I'd like is for the movie to only be listed once in the client, but then it to offer the multiple versions when selecting it.
There's been a few other movies that I've recently ripped which have had multiple versions too (Salt, Green Lantern & Horrible Bosses are three that I can remember off the top of my head)... but as I didn't know what the correct thing to do was I only gave Plex my favourite version (usually the Directors or Extended cut) and stored the other version elsewhere.

Ghost files
First of all, let me describe my setup for music. I have a "Music" library pointed at iTunes/iTunes Media/Music — not sure if it works well now, but when I started the direct iTunes library option was unreliable. I often add music to my iTunes library with generic names and wind up tagging them within iTunes. Previously this has led to Plex scanning the folder as I worked and adding the generic names as well as the real ones but eventually catching up.
With this latest release I am finding that the generically named tracks/files are remaining in the library, unplayable of course, interleaved with the real files. So, a 12-track album shows 24 tracks with two for each track number. I have given it a couple of days and still no self-correction, emptying trash fails, library rescan does not help.

Can't delete from playlist on Mac
Not sure if this is a bug or what but since updating to the latest version of Media Server for Mac, I can't delete items from playlists in Safari. Am however able to from the iPhone app.

Mac mini Plex server not seeing Synology NAS
In Finder of my Mac mini, I can see my Synology NAS (called Homeserver) but when I try to add library folders from within Plex, Homeserver is not listed and I cannot draw any folder from the NAS. I have another external drive on one of the USB ports and Plex sees all of the content with no problem but for obvious reasons, I want to target my Synology NAS.

Running PMS on Macbook Pro.
Trying to access server from Roku Stick
Get messages: either "Server not accessible. Connection tests are in progress. Please try again." or "“Name of Computer” state: unreachable. Please sign into your server and check your connection."
Try to access from Plex App on iPad, it tells me server is offline.
Have tried going through steps posted so far, but no luck.
Can't connect with local network, but can see a friend's media that is remote.
Seems to be a problem with local media.
Can anyone lead me through step by step trouble shooting?
