It seems that if I sit at my mac and go to my tv and start streaming on the tv (Samsung) before the screensaver has activated on the mac, the streaming will keep the monitor on until finished streaming.
It didn't use to be like this so maybe it is a bug in the latest update 0.9.17.2 ?

Any reasons why my PMS server randomly shuts down? I am on a Mac Pro 10.8.5, 2x2.4Ghz Quad Core, 12GB of memory. I just disabled the Refresh metadata periodically, but I thought that was fixed in the latest release? Let me know what log files you need to help me fix this.

Have a Vizio TV and the videos never play just time out - I see the the 3 dots and that's it. Help!
Problem. The server program hangs/freezes after update 2.6.1.
This happens + - 5 x per day. Have to force-close the server app.
Sometimes it does not know what browser to use. Uninstalled firefox because it was set to use that browser.
But same thing with Safari browser. Still freezes.
What to do?
Sorry no backup to Time Machine. Always some problem with that??
But never with my other Macs.

Randon users 0 - 11 at same time. Different media when watching? Cant tell if more users?

I have read some older posts on this so it seems to be a long running problem. I am just wondering if anyone has ever found a solution for it?
I am running my server on an iMac and using an ASUS router.
I have wake on LAN setup in my router with the iMac's mac address but it does not wake up when asleep.
I am wondering about two things (any help/info is appreciated here):

I have not been able to say a new movie in over a month, and it doesn't remove any I deleted a month ago as well. I even deleted all my library and playlists, and when it said I need to load folders for the dashboard, I selected ADD and selected my video folders and it says "cannot save blah bllah blah" ...why? please don't give me IT jargon, this should not be programmer terms to simply add folders that it previously added. Have they tweeked with this program so much it just doesn't work any longer? maddening, use to be so easy, simple and workable, now noting works.
Can't access Plex anymore. Can't find server. Data is on a NAS I've used for months. Only change is I've reserved an IP recently. Now can't access Plex. Its a WD EX2. Can login to admin no probs. Can view files via Mac Finder no probs. NAS is on network. Plex dead.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
I've messed around with the Player settings a bit, and have been having some playback problems - mainly with the unsupported channels, such as not buffering, or not buffering fast enough. While I realise this is with the unsupported channels, there must be some default which works well with MacBooks?
I'd appreciate any help.

I have PMS housed on a Late 2010 Mac Mini, with my files on a QNAP NAS.
I watch my media at home on a network attached Apple TV but I often travel for work where I am on planes and in countries with poor internet, so streaming from my home server is not an option
When i do this I have a second PMS housed on my MacBook Pro and I have an External HDD with my Media that I travel with.
I would like to leave my External HDD plugged into my Mac Mini and have my server sync the unwatched files to the local storage on a regular basis - e.g nightly so that I can just grab it and go when I leave, and plug it back in when I return.
Can anyone think of the most efficient/effective way to do this?

I know x265 is CPU intensive but as you can see in the following screenshot, MPlayerX manages to play files with very little CPU compared to Plex.
As I understand, Plex needs to transcode MKVs but why? Couldn't it perform like MplayerX and not use so much CPU?

I have loaded the Plex Android app on my Sony Bravia TV and have previously connected to Plex server on my iMac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Now I am getting "No Servers Found. Server version 0.9.7.13 or higher required"
I can still select a single movie, chose Tags and Collection, but that is a long way to the goal. Is it me or is it Plex?
So I've been using Plex for a couple of months now, linking my Macbook to my xbox to stream video.
But this past week, i keep getting the message "Error, Server not available", and at random times (without me changing a thing in my settings) it will suddenly work. This happens every time i use the plex-app on my xbox now.
What can i do to solve this?
Hello all, I have OSX 10.6.8, and am having an issue with the Plex Server download.
I have 92 gb of storage, no special things set up on my computer, but cannot get the Plex Media Server to start up to where I can even add a library.
Please help!
I deleted all library files plist and any other remnants of Plex using app cleaner. It got it all. I downloaded and reverted from the current flex pass version to the "stable" public download Version 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475. I set all of my prefs and rebuilt my libraries the way i like them. The gripe remains.

How to not lost all data manually added?
