Remote access just stopped working out of the blue.

Hey all. Running:
OS X 10.11.5
Plex: 0.9.16.6

And as you can see via the screenshot.. NAT and UnPNP are on. Things were working just great up until last night.. Or at least that's when I noticed, since I didn't sleep at home and was trying to access my library, as I've done from many places before.

I did recently start using an VPN PIA but I turn it off whenever I'm not actually utilizing it, and it was definitely switched off last night. I've turned the UnPNP off and on, I've reboot my router both soft and hard, as well as my modem. Reboot my computer complete shutdown and I've also spit on my floor for luck. Yet, none was to be had. Very confused about why it shouldn't be working anymore? I'd love some help!

No, no, NOOOOOOOO! Don't drop support for Snow Leopard!!!

Snow Leopard was the last version of OS X that was worth a damn: the best, most trouble-free OS Apple ever released, the veritable WinXP of Mac!

Ever since:
– Wi-Fi is unreliable
– Mail is unreliable
– Networking is unreliable
– Safari is unreliable
– The new system font causes eye strain within minutes of use
– The interface looks like it’s from McDonalds
– Text is blurry

Now we understand completely that Apple has made it very hard for developers to support all but the very latest versions of OS X, but this isn't a question of us being too lazy to upgrade, or legacy apps. Rather, it's that Apple has thrown us under the bus, beginning with 10.7, in terms of usability, functionality, and the user-friendly GUI to which we'd become accustomed. Snow Leopard is the Windows XP of Apple: the last OS worth a damn.

For this reason, Snow Leopard's installed base is still greater than that of Lion and Mountain Lion:

Plex server linking to WDmycloud, crashing the WDmyCloud.

Configuration: Mac (latest IOS) running plex-server, linking to files (video) on WDmyCloud (WDmC) (latest firmware)

When running the above configuration running and noticed that my WDmC comes to a scratching hold. Playing the files on any device is not possible (ipad. Atv4), adding files to the NAS is impossible (I lost even 2 TB of data due to this). I have reproduced this issue a couple of times.
When running the plex server with files on mac itself, no issue

Therefore I have deleted all PLEX sever programs from all macs to be able to run the NAS smoothly.

Since I like PLEX and would like to still be using it the following;
- Is this issue known to PLEX? (I have communicated the issue to WD as I have been in close contact due the loss of data)
- Is a solution available for this issue?

Why can i only share one Library?

Hi there
Ive recently reinstalled plex on my MacMini. Since then it isnt possible for me to share more than one Library (only one is listed)
Does anyone know why?
Ive also createn a ticked to plex but they wont reply

Arabic Subtitle not working on PLEX Media Server Version 0.9.16.6

Hello,

I updated my PLEX Media server to the new version 0.9.16.6 hoping that the new update will solve the issue of arabic encoding but sounds it's not, anyone experience the same ?

PLEX Media server running through Mac OSx El Capitan, also tried to access the movie through iPhone with 9.3 OS but also i got the same issue.

Kindly note: i tried to run the movie with the subtitle through VLC media player for Mac and it worked well.

wrong movie plays every time

Hi.
Running flex server on iMac.
When playing movies from the same machine, every time i press play, it starts another movie. ?
As you can se in the pictures, everything is okay until i press play.
It only happens on the server. and only in my movies, not series.

I have tried updating and almost everything else. :S
Its the same thing with every movie I play. on the server.
And every time I press play, it plays another movie.?

Any ideas ?

Plex Media Server connecting to remote IP

Hello! When booting up, Plex attempts to connect to serval different IP addresses.. Little snitch reports some as plex.tv, which I don't mind letting through. Others, however, are to just IP addresses that I can't find any information on who they are. For example, 45.79.10.123 or 45.79.198.112 on port 443.

Does anyone know who or what these connections are? Are there a list of what addresses I need to allow through? Thanks!

Plex PS4 fullscreen border issue

Hi there

 

I have plex on my Mac and Ps4 and I am logging into my Ps4 to stream movies from there mainly.  I am having an issue when watching movies in full screen mode where by the usual black borders are bright blue and the I can still see the player bar at the bottom and top.

 

The movies that it mainly does this on are 1080p films, but I have tested a 3D 720p and it still does it.  I have also fiddled with the aspect ratio on the tv changing it from scan to 16:9 but no change.  These movies are Mp4.  pic attached

 

Has anyone come across this issue before and know how to fix it?  Thanks

Incorrect Subtitles for TV Shows

Is anyone else facing an issue where the incorrect subtitles play during a TV Show? I've been facing this issue for the last few months, where the subtitles that belong to a previous episode play for the current one. For example, the subtitles for S03E22 or S03E21 will play when I'm watching S03E23. I've seen this issue with multiple TV shows.

I use opensubtitles.org as my preferred agent.

Mac OSX - remote viewing always choppy (beating a dead horse)

Looking to see if remote viewing has been choppy for anyone else.

  • Running a Mac Mini 2014 with 8GB RAM, nothing else major on it.
  • Streaming quality for remote is 2MB, local is completely fine.
  • Internet Pipe is 50MB/5MB, making sure no more than 2 people are on at a given time for the upload pipe to be saturated.
  • phone remote viewing has never had an issue, just TV's, Roku's, Apple TV's and even the web interface all have the same issue.

Always thought people that I had shared with were just exaggerating things, but it has come to a point that after reading he forums and making all of the changes, I'm about to rip and replace Plex entirely for a fresh install. Before going through the process, I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Subtitles broken after the update?

Hi. I was using Plex Server together with RasPlex on my RaspberryPi, and I was happy with it. My problem is that, after upgrading the server to version 0.9.16.6.1993, my Turkish subtitle fonts have gone crazy, which had no problem at all before. So any recommendations to overcome this problem? Will there be a fix about it soon? Many thanks in advance.

Cannot import TV shows

Hi, I've tagged attached screen shot of video files as TV Shows and attempted to import

no luck, can't figure out what I'm doing wrong:
pentulmate - s01e01.mp4
pentulmate - s01e02.mp4
pentulmate - s01e03.mpr

Spent all day and can't figure out why these files won't import.

Please help?

Dealing with subtitles and "unknown" audio tracks.

As I posted here (originally in "Ask a Ninja!", but it was moved), when PMS is set to display subtitles with foreign audio, videos that have subtitles and only an audio track marked as "unknown", the subtitles are displayed.

 

Is this a bug, intentional behavior, or is there already a setting to remedy this?  The vast majority of my videos with "unknown" language audio tracks are in my native language.  It would seem that there should be an option to tell PMS that this is the case so subtitles aren't displayed by default on so many of these videos.

Plex Server not remotely accessible when VPN is active

How do we go about negotiating VPNs?

At the moment my Plex server is only accessible on the same network. When I disable NordVPN it becomes available remotely again.

I'm guessing the problem here is the change in IP address. I have a list of IPs I can "whitelist" but no idea how to go about doing this in Plex.

What's the best way to go about re-enabling remote access when using a VPN?

mac mini sleep mid movie

I was watching a movie with the wife and midway through the movie (an hour plus) it just stops with an error server unavailable. I clicked retry still same error. I went to the room and saw the mac mini was asleep. I manually woke it up logged in and turned the monitor off. Came back into the living room and clicked try again and presto the movie went right back to playing.

How do I keep the mac mini from sleeping while a movie is playing?

Additional info:

Mac mini late 2012
2.5Ghz I5
16 GB of ram
500 GB SSD

using amazon fire stick Plex app to watch the movie

Wdmycloud personal 3TB for movie storage
I have both the shares setup using AutoFS tutorial.

any help would be greatly appreciated. When it works its AWESOME!

How do I remove Plex Server on my Mac completely, so I can do a fresh install?

I have tried looking for the Plex Media Server folder as advertised, under ../Library/Applications Support/ but no Plex Media Server folder is sat within their. I've searched for it and nothing! I've deleted the App, but when I re-download it, it is still using my corrupted / screwed up libraries. Am I being particularly thick? I love Plex and was happily running it, until I tried to move all my content to an external disk, and found that Plex got screwed up trying to re-build the indexes for the media. So I'd like to start completely afresh... Any help would be gratefully received, as I feel lost without it running... I'm running an iMac with OS X El Capitan

Multiple questions on missing episodes, subtitles and Organisation .

Greetings,

After some time using my apple tv to stream to my rather old tv I decided to give Plex a go. Today I got my new (Smart) tv WOHOOOHOOO. The software looks great and when working I think it's a no brainer but it's just a huge chunk of information.

Problems I run into:

  • How to organize my series quite well. Right now I have a hard drive containing all kinds of series in 3 folders: Ongoing,Season Stop, New (for me to watch). These folders contain of all kinds of series with different seasons and episodes. But somehow it's EXTREMELY hard to organize this well when just opening a library clicking on my hard drive. Any chance to do this fast??
  • For the sake of simplicity I decided to make a smaller folder with 2 folders in it : The vampire diaries and Vikings. TVD has 3 episodes in it , vikings 2. However, in the library Vikings shows 2 episodes (great!) and TVD only shows 2, I can't find a way to get the third one in my plex library...
  • Last, but not least. I live in a shared home and sometimes, my roommates want to sleep at night while I want to watch series. Therefore, I need to turn the sound off and I need subtitles to know what's going on. I have turned every subtitle setting ON and the subtitles are showing on my desktop plex but not on my (smart) tv.... Any ideas how to fix this? (I use subsmarine to look for any subtitle, and then I put the .srt file in the same folder as the mp4 file.)

Right now , my desktop is an iMac late 2013 running yosemite 10.10.5.
The (smart) tv I'm talking about is the Philips 40PFK5300

How to play media on IPADS etc after upgrading to IMAC

I have just upgraded to an IMAC and cannot seem to play any of my media on any device being my IMAC, iPhone or IPAD.. My flex server and content loads fine but cannot play???

I know there are a lot of discussions here but I cannot get a definitive answer.

No Remote Access

Verizon Fios G1100 Modem/router Combo

I have read up on all the other forum posts about this but any configuration I try does not work. I have no double NAT, I have a static IP for my server, and I am forwarding ports 32400, 1900, 32469, and port 5353. I know that is a little extra but just to be safe. I have also disabled UPNP because some users were reporting issues with it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Picture of the port forwarding configuration is attached as well as the log when I try to test the remote connection with plex server.
