Am I correct about advantages / disadvantages of Plex

Hi all,
First post, but am reading as much as possible. I am thinking of turning over my media library (music, TV shows, movies) to Plex. Could anyone comment if I have the below advantages/disadvantages correct?

Currently, my setup is macbook pro running iTunes with iTunes Match (not apple music) and Apple TV 3rd gen (attached to network via ethernet). I also have a PS4, but don't want my wife to have to fire that up to watch movies.
I am thinking of adding:
1) Newest Apple TV
2) Plex server on Raspberry Pi2 with an external drive (I was going this route over NAS so that my off-site backup will capture my media - current off-site backup will not capture NAS) Also, want to learn more about the Raspberry pi, but that's another thread.

Goal: Ease of Use / Simplicity. Digitize my older, store bought DVDs

Notes: If my wife purchases music, she will probably use iTunes. She also has a shuffle, which I believe needs iTunes for syncing (I could be wrong). We also use spotify, but I hate the interface.

Pros:
1) Organization
2) No DRM on movies - I would like all my movies to appear in one place (currently, some show up in iTunes/Purchased while my DVD movies will show up somewhere else0
3) Less expensive than using mac mini as an itunes server

Cons:
1) Auto-sync - I read some threads where Plex is not updating/syncing with the iTunes library without user intervention (i.e., if my wife purchases music, will I see it in Plex?)
2) Currently, Plex is not integrated with ATV universal search function
3) Cannot sync itunes shuffle (I realize I may be the only person left who wants to do this).
