I have a slightly unusual setup:
I am running Plex 2.4.4 on mu iMac that is running OS X 10.10.3.
Attached to my iMac is an ASUS TM-AC1900 wireless router (with the latest firmware version) that has attached to it a 2TB Seagate drive formatted for NTFS. To access this NTFS drive, I am using Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 12.2.313 (this is a driver that allows OS X to read and write to NTFS drives).
The 2 TB drive is shared and is the drive where my Plex media data is saved.
In my living room I have a Roku 2, that connects to my ASUS TM-AC1900 router wirelessly.
Here is the issue:
When I am watching media on my Roku (using Plex) the media will sometimes just stop, for anything from a few minutes to indefinitely. If I go to my iMac and start to play the same program inside Plex, then it will start playing on my Roku almost instantly.
I have FULL debugging enabled on Plex on my Roku but it does not give me any information indicating what is halting playback. I also have the video quality at the lowest setting.
I have spoken with ASUS about this, but before I have even gotten to the end of the sentence where I say that a Mac is attached the the system they cut me off IMMEDIATELY and say that I have to speak to Apple (I presume that their support has very little experience with OS X, which is why they do this EVERY SINGLE TIME).
If I share data (using the Plex server on my iMac) from the Mac’s local drive, then everything plays perfectly (though this is DEFINITELY not my preferred option).
How do I debug this?
