Need help with local streaming

Hello Everyone,

I don't know for certain if this exact question has been asked, but I did try to search this, and believe me, I spent over 2 hours trying to figure this out. This is my last resort, so please don't be upset with me if this has been asked before. I did try researching this extensively before creating this post.

So, I'm having some issues with my plex media server using the internet to stream to my iPad. I've been watching films from my plex media server that's on my MacBook Pro sent to my iPad using the iOS app, and I've been noticing huge amounts of my internet data being used. I am allotted 1024GB per month by my ISP, and I've actually just exceeded my limit.

I thought Plex was supposed to run on my localhost? Maybe there are some settings that are causing Plex to use my internet data, and I'd like some help to figure out how to get Plex to stream only on my localhost without using any internet. Both my MacBook Pro, and iPad are using WiFi.

If anyone could help me, I'd be so appreciative! I don't want to use any more internet data if I don't have to. I'm going to have to pay an overage charge now, because I've exceeded my monthly limit of internet data. So, I'd like to nip this in the bud now, before any more data is used. Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Maelui
