Trying to get Plex Media Server and Plex Web App running on my 4GB Mac Mini and 16GB iPad Mini 2. Both of these use my home Time-Warner Cable internet router. I have been UNable to get the Plex for iOS app on the iPad to connect to the Plex Media Server on the Mac Mini. (My situation should be the easiest and simplest there is!)
Here’s what happens -
Under “Devices” in Plex Media Server, I see my iPad Mini 2 client, my Mac Mini Plex Server, and the Plex Web (Safari) interface (2.10.10).
When I browse to the “locations” screen on the iPad, it sees my Mac mini and says “Connecting”.
A minute later it says “Offline”
I’ve been through the help guides on the plex website and I haven’t found the magic detail that will fix this.
Here’s my setup:
Mac Mini: Mac OS 10.12.1, Safari 10.0.1 (12602.2.14.0.7),
Plex Media Server 1.2.7.2987 (from Plex website)
Wireless connection to 2.4GHz network, browsing and internet apps all work
iPad Mini 2: iOS 10.1.1, Plex 4.4.1 web client (from Apple App Store)
I’ve re-downloaded and installed the software, same result.
Because the Mac can see the client logged in confirms that client and server are logged in with the same id. (doesn’t it?)
My Time-Warner cable router sees my Mac and my iPad as clients on the same wi-fi network, with adjacent ip addresses.
On the router, I tried pre-assigning the MAC addresses of the Mac Mini and the iPad, but that was no help.
I found no logs for Plex Media Server
