I'm trying to get Podcasts to show up in Plex, I don't care about where I left off or not, just for them to show up somewhat reasonably named.
I figured I can just have an app download the podcast MP3's and M4P's and set plex to scan that specific folder and add the file. Thats fine and dandy, but one of my podcasts only posts their videos onto YouTube so I found a service PodSync that does some sort of magic and it gives me a URL that my podcast app can read and then download the videos, though the problem is the filename they come out like "K8djbJHuahljk.mp4" Not very descriptive.
I know iTunes will download the podcast and give it a better readable filename, but I want something a little more automated (if I don't actively play the file within iTunes the program thinks I've stopped listening to the podcast and stops updating it, not what I want, just download it all the time. Plus I don't want to chance that the podcasts start syncing to my iPhone (the podcast app got so bloated the only way to retrieve the space was to erase and restore from backup the phone so no more native Podcast.app using)
Anyone have any Mac Podcasting apps that support video as well as audio downloads, currently I'm trying gpodder but it's whats giving me the weird filenames that really are not descriptive. I tried PodGrasp from the Mac App Store but it didn't seem to like the video files from the PodSync URL.
If the App can keep either X number of episodes, or delete after X days even if unplayed great, otherwise if all it does it download I have Hazel and can have that delete files after X days like I do with The Late Show and Real Time with Bill Maher
Free Apps are the best, but I'm not opposed to spending money on an app that works (if a trail is available even better before having to hit buy from the store)
