When Plex will stop ignore that Photo support is not good?

Plex now is still a decade behind the picture support of phones/tablet. Why?

Because the "gallery" function and picture support of plex is just a bad joke. Reasons:

  1. Still sort files by names! (Who rename their photos these days?)
  2. Don't support tags ( So plex still think that the best way to store photos is to create folders and renaming each file...)
  3. The gallery design is too outdated (lost screen space due to margins, lost screen space putting filename below).
  4. Doesn't support RAW
  5. Doesn't support editing (ok, don't need but would be good to have basics)
  6. Import thumbnails and all other subproducts from other softwares.
  7. Photos/iphto support is NONE
  8. iphoto channel doesn't work ( tag support is here, but no image is displayed)
  9. The only way to access photo is to guess the year/day/month or the file name to actually see it.

I just want to ask the devs and other users to do the following actions and answer a simple question : "are you happy with the way things are done?" . You can try to do this in all devices (Web, iphone, android, ipad) , i'm pretty sure you will not be happy in any of them.

  1. Select your iphoto/photo folder to import. Are you happy with the speed? are you happy that plex import even the thumbnails and put they in your library as valid photos?
  2. Try to find a photo of two years ago.
  3. Try to navigate to a photo that you put in your iphoto album "2014 New year eve" or whatever.
  4. Try to find a photo that was done in raw format.
  5. Try to use the iphoto channel if the above was not as you might expected.
  6. Still trying to use plex for pictures!? You are so stubborn.

as I said in a recent review in google play, it's a shame that the media support receive a lot of attention while the pictures support is crap.

How it could be improved?

Besides the update required in the way the photos are shown (use the android phone gallery as a design example) and fixing the 1-7 problems, the thing is really simple: put a person to really try to use this for real tasks:

1.A wife trying to select some photos in the server to share in facebook/whatsapp from her phone/tablet.
2.A guy trying to show photos from the last trip to Japan.
3.Someone trying to find a photo from a decade ago from his phone at work and using the premium feature to access externally the server.

This way, the advertise of Picture support will be true and you could also claim that plex is a dropbox/apple cloud killer and you don't need to let them have your pictures if you can access them in a sleek design fashion without hassle.

PS: I would be really angry if I had paid the premium price to be able to sync all devices with the plex server and not be able to navigate well in my server library. Hopefully I'm not a premium user.
