It should be easy, right?
- Follow Plex's naming convention precisely
- [optional, which I've done] Use a media manager tool like ViMedia Manager to pull field-conventional metadata (.nfo files) and art
- [also optional, which I've also done] Under Settings>Server>Agents>Shows make sure Local Media Assets is checked and at the top. (Just in case you don't like what the agent(s) scrape, you can use your own meticulously cultivated metadata from the previous step.)
- Update your TV library and everything (show name, episode names & numbers, descriptions, etc.) is as it should be.
Nope.
None of the agents are working properly. When one (The TVDB) does find the show and I select it, there's still no metadata. Episodes are named Episode 1, Episode 2, etc.) and all fields are blank.
Aha! I say. I've got robust metadata and art files, so I'll just use them!
Nope. Local assets don't populate either.
I can use a muxer like Subler to embed some metadata (works for episode names) but it's incomplete, and that's not the point of all this.
Some superuser (which Joe Everyman shouldn't need just to fill metadata fields!) please tell me what I've overlooked.
Y'know, between my losing battle with music videos, this trouble, and other stumbling blocks, I'm afraid Plex has provided a very polished, multiplatform UI in exchange for some really important media organization powers.
Much obliged, in advance.
