I am running PMS on my “late 2012” iMac. It has worked great directly on the Mac and wired streaming to my Roku for several months now. I have had no issues with being able to watch full 1080p video without transcoding. Then a few days ago the PMS stopped playing most of my MKV files, giving me the message “There was a problem playing this item”. The weird thing is that PMS will still play ALL of my mkv DVD rips and a few of my mkv BD rips. But it will not play most of my BD rips including ones I have watched previously with no issues. I rip all of my BD movies the exact same way, same settings, same bitrate, everything the same. The only new variable since the problem began is that I upgraded my iMac’s OS from Yosemite to El Capitan. I can not figure this out, Is El Capitan the problem? Could some file associated with PMS be corrupted? If I need to, I will remove PMS from the mac and reinstall. But that would create a lot of tedious work choosing posters, backgrounds, etc… And that is a stab in the dark. I don’t want to go that rout if that wouldn’t fix the issue.
Please help if you have any insight.
