I've been having problems getting some video files (.mp4) to play - messages about 'taking too long to play' and then freezing, so I thought i'd try optimising them using this feature. What it appears to do is one file and then it just says 'failed' for all other files. I've tried a restart, complete shut down and restart and still the same error - i've tried selecting only a single file at a time to optimise and a group of them (up to 5) and still the same error.
This does appear to affect only some files with the .mp4 at the end, some play fine, others do this whole long delay then error. I'm guessing because the files appear in the LG Plex App it is able to see them, and the media info it contains is correct for the episode, it's just the playing it part that seems to be problematic. I'm guessing this is just as likely an issue with the LG TV given how rubbish LG are, but a fix would be super. The non playing files via the LG Plex App do play just fine in Plex Web interface and through other players such as VLC.
I'm using PMS 0.9.15.0.
Update: I think I've figure out the problem, the external HDD it was trying to create optimised versions in is full - what I dummy I am for not realising that earlier. My stupidity aside, why is it that Plex won't now just play a file on my LG TV without my needing to optimise each file first - isn't this what this transcoding thing is for?
