What are the hardware requirements for the server to play a large files on an Apple TV or iOS

I have quite a few movie files that are blu-ray rips (30-40gb) and I am
1st: wondering if any of the NAS systems out there can handle those files being played back on a 4th gen Apple TV and iOS devices. Or do I need a computer with an i7 and GPU to handle that?
2nd: what is the best way to enjoy those blu-ray movies in their full quality on my 4k TV? Will the Apple TV support that or do I have to directly connect the computer running the plex server to my TV?

I have been running the plex server on my 2014 mac mini and it does fine with the smaller files (>15gb) streaming to my Apple TV, but it is not happy with the larger files. I can play the larger files in the web app on the computer so I know that it can play those files.

Ideally I would like to run plex on a Synology RS815+ or something similar, assuming that it could handle the larger files. But if I would need to purchase a $2000 NAS to do that I might as well just build a computer that can handle it.

Thanks.
