Please help!
I was in process of isolating my movie collection from a folder of other miscellaneous (but important) files.
Originally everything lived in /Backup and Msc/Movies. I created a directory at the root called /Plex/Plex Movies
So I could have my media segregated from my other directory of unrelated files.
Everything was working well. Plex would only scan /Plex/Plex Movies for new content.
Until this morning, I noticed during a forced scan after I put some new movies in /Plex/Plex Movies that
it was scanning /Backup and Msc. It was picking up all kinds of other content that was still in there.
I canceled the Scan and went to look at the info metadata on a file it had picked up and noticed it
was in /Backup and Msc.
Here's where things went horribly wrong. I figured I would delete the Library and it would just disassociate
the /Backup and Msc directory and I could repoint Plex at /Plex/Plex Movies.
My entire /Backup and Msc directory is now gone! It deleted a ton of non movie content when looking at the
volume using the Mac OS X Finder (El Capitan). Is there ANY way to get this directory back?
I have not messed with any default settings and I would have expected the files worst case to be in the Trash
where I could recover them.
This is an absolutely scary feature if Plex gets accidentally pointed at something that has important files in it.
What is my best option, will a Plex database recovery restore visibility for Mac OS X finder to see my non Plex files?
Or do I need to use some kind of disk recovery tool to go look for files that have been marked to be overwriten?
