I dearly love Plex as a platform and always have.....
But for the love of god can someone please make the sync functionality more stable and speed it up...
It has barely ever been stable enough to setup sync for a number of videos, and then leave it alone to just get on with.... Every single time something will go wrong, meaning hours and hours wasted.
My setup is;
PMS on a Mac Mini (directly connected to the TV) with wired GB network
Media is sat on a remote Windows 10 Server (10TB RAID 6 array) with wired GB network
iPad device wireless connection to the network
All devices are 'always on'
Running the players does not seem to have an issue.... Player on the Mac always streams, the TV in the bedroom (LG Plex player) runs wirelessly, and the iPad can play movies...
But from one week to the next it just does not show any consistency in the sync space..... I do not spend each day syncing content, but when I do I just want it to work... not have the entire solution rebooted, just to have the iPad app tell me there is an error or get stuck not being able to transfer the file, or getting stuck at 50%, or getting to 53% and then failing.
I know there is a requirement to transcode some movies, which is going to take as long as it takes, but the subsequent copy to the iPad also takes a ridiculous amount of time.... I can download movies from the internet faster, than copying across my own LAN.
It would be great if some attention can be given to this, and once fixed, be great if it is then not broken again in the next release.
Kind regards
Jason
