Hello There,
I've been combing through the forums (both here and elsewhere) as well as doing research elsewhere to try and figure out this problem. After much ado I'm turning to the forums. If I missed something I apologize in advance.
I have set up a Plex Media Server (Version 1.3.4.3285-b46e0eafd) on my MacBook Pro (running on El Capitan) and plan to stream my library through an Opera app on a Sony DP-S5100 Blu-Ray Player and an android app on my ASUS Memory Pad. However, I've been having trouble keeping connected through these apps if my MacBook Pro is in sleep mode. Of course, this isn't an unusual problem. Here are a few of the tips I've tried from the forums and elsewhere, but considering the date of these solutions they may be out of date:
1) Going into my Mac's Energy Saver settings and selecting "wake for network access."
2) Experimenting with the Caffeine and Jigglier apps (not satisfied- they keep everything awake).
3) Downloading the Wimoweh app and selecting Plex as an program that can still operate although the laptop display remains off.
None of these have worked and I'm getting the feeling I'm missing something. It could be a setting or extra step I haven't taken with Plex, my network settings or something else I'm not aware of, but I'm not sure.
One thing that doesn't help is there aren't detailed instructions on how to make sure Plex and Wimoweh are communicating with each other- no YouTube videos, no articles or blogs, no step-by-step instructions I've found on either website. I'm completely new to both of these technologies so it does seem like Greek to me. If someone could explain this to me like I'm a ten-year-old (but respectfully, of course) I'd be really, really obliged. In short: HALP.
