Sorry I am new and confused big time.
I installed a new mac mini and "Plex Server" to create a home entertainment system. I only ever want to view these movies and music on my home's big screen.
First I created a small Movie folder and another separate Music folder before installing Plex as someone suggested on the internet and added a bunch of content.
After downloading "Plex Server" it whirled and weezed then finally came up with most of my content, even with cover art etc. Impressive!
I download Plex Media player just in case I was supposed to have it??? no idea really. The mac usually play what I want.
Then I downloaded my first movie and dropped it into the movie folder on my mac, carefully renaming it to how I think the format was supposed to be: Janis_Joplin-Little_Girl_Blue (2016).mp4
Opened up Plex and it's not there. Checked out the Plex support and it is plastered with the same problems, often with terms that are far beyond my experience!! Plex has no expected menu bar at the top of my screen like Apple - Plex-File_view etc. Only Firefox is open so I can't get into it in any logical way...
So my simple questions are:
1. Does Plex not work this way?
2. I thought Plex lived on my computer, but it always tries to go online with my browser. Does someone outside my home need to poke around inside my computer to check and update my content?
3. There is something called a Plex App. Do I need that to organize my files even though I will never want to see any of my content on any other device?
Thanks so much for any insight and I do apologize for asking a common question but I'm ready to dump Plex perhaps too soon. Best regards Barry
