I have been trying to diagnose a problem with my dedicated Plex Server (Version 0.9.12.19) that runs exclusively on a headless i5 Mac Mini (late 2014, i5 2.8GHz, 8GB, OSX 10.11.1). I have a Samsung TV UE32J5500 running official latest Plex client on smart hub. My media files are stored on a Synology NAS. The whole network is hardwired ethernet running off a Netgear ProSafe GS116 16-port Gigabit Switch to which Server, Client and NAS are connected & DHCP their IP's from an ISP provided router.
I have been experiencing freezing/choppy video playing back via Direct Stream or Transcode. To narrow down the possibility of this being a network issue I have placed a movie file directly on the Server HDD so that the system is not using the NAS - the Server log still shows the "DEBUG - [Transcoder] Throttle - Going into sloth mode." message. The log also shows a speed rating of around 3.7 when the sloth mode message is displayed. CPU hovers around 20% in Perf Mon.
