So I have been a Mac guy for 15+ years and have had no issues streaming my HD media from my MacBook/iMac for years. Apple decided to release garbage desktops and laptops for the past few years so I jumped ship to Windows. Now I am a little confused on a few details.
Hardware:
Brand new Alienware 15" laptop w/ Windows 10 64bit (latest updates)
Plex Media Server (1.3.3.348..... , current)
AppleTV 4 (latest firmware)
Apple Time Capsule/Airport (latest firmware)
External HDD with media files.
Setup:
Laptop connected wirelessly to Airport w/ full signal.
AppleTV 4 connected wirelessly to Airport w/ full signal.
External HDD connected with USB 3.0 (Super-Speed) to Laptop.
All hardware is 'Wireless N' compatible.
Media:
1080p media with bitrates that vary from 2,500 kbps to 11,000 kbps (most around 8k)
Most are MP4/M4V with AC3 5.1 audio. I have a few MKV as well.
I have Plex set to stream at 'Original, 1080'.
As stated above, I used to just use Airplay/iTunes to stream everything to the AppleTV. I have decided to forego iTunes and just organize my media in Plex. When I go to play a movie in Plex on my laptop, everything is fine, no issues. When I try and play the same file on Plex on the AppleTV, it plays a second or two then pauses/buffers with a note on my screen saying something along the lines of the wireless signal cant handle the media and I should check my connection. Both the AppleTV and laptop have a full signal to the Airport (300 Mbps). Occasionally, after a minute of sitting the file plays fine, other times it hangs indefinitely. I have tried changing the stream from 'Original' to '3,000k, 720p' and the same issues arise either way.
I've included the log files below, I hope that contains the needed information. I am a novice with Plex not computers and streaming. Please let me know if you need any other information, I have no doubt I have left a key piece of info out!
