Can't perform the first time setup. The web app does not see my Plex Media Server

So I installed the app on OS X, clicked on Open Plex and logged in. Now it says Get your Plex Media Server with a link to download the app and on the left it says Looking for servers...
I looked at the troubleshooting section of the site but did not find anything that actually helped me.
