Mac mini SSD upgrade

Hi,

I typically run the the Plex Pass OS X Media server releases so maybe some of the issues I experience are of a beta nature

I have a Mac mini (mid 2011) i5 8G 500GB 5,200RPM dedicated solely to Plex with a USB 3 External HDD connected back to the USB Mac mini USB 2 port.

I guess I am accustomed to my MacBook Pro performance so on the odd occasion I 'share screen' with the Mac mini man does it feel sluggish

I sometimes get the 'your network connection siow' during streaming to ATV4 yet the time capsule, Mac mini and ATV4 are connected with 1GB ethernet, sometimes takes long for iOS devices to 'see' the media server and Sync'ing above 'medium' takes ages. When Plex does a library update when new content is added the fans / processor run load for way longer after the cover art has been DL'd

Long story short question will it will be worth the pain / cost to add a small SDD instead of the internal 500GB 5,200RPM in the Mac mini which only really holds OS X and Plex?...will the performance improvement be seen on the few 'pain' points I have started to see?
