So I'm in the process of officially retiring my 2007 Mac Pro 3.0 GHz (2,1), which capped out on OS 10.7 Lion. I got an inexpensive used Late-2012 Mac Mini running 10.12.2, since I also have a Drobo FW800 that contains my Plex Library. The Mac Mini should be awesome, though it came with only 4GB of memory. I've ordered the 16GB kit from Amazon to give me that bump.
As I type, I'm in the middle of running Apple's Migration Assistant now to get my stuff moved over. But for those few that have experience in this, is there anything I need to be aware of? Again, my Plex Library is on my Drobo, while the Plex Server app is on the Mac. I've made a backup of the server to the Drobo as well, so I'm hoping that restoring with the backup should get me up and running. But I haven't experienced any pains associated with this yet. So maybe there's something I'm not seeing.
If you have experience with this, let me know if it's smooth sailing or if there are some roadblocks to be aware of.
