Hi Guys,
I'm having an ever so slight lip sync issue when playing DTS audio 5.1 tracks to my sound bar (LPCM) Dolby Pro Logic II (any effect mode Standard, Movie, Stereo)
This is my first post and I've searched for a few days with no true answer other than "this is just how Plex transcodes DTS". So I'm running Plex Server on my well equipped late 2015 iMac with all of my media on a 5TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive. I use direct play and direct stream to Plex App and it transcodes when necessary. I just purchased a new 4K TV w Android TV natively built in for the apps(Sony XBR55X700D) and updated to the latest firmware (which provides HDR support and other improvements). So far I LOVE the TV and I've only had issues with Plex running internally on the Sony Android and no other sources have the issue below. My TV is connected to a Sony HT260 Soundbar via the digital audio out (Toslink) on the TV to the back of the soundbar (all optical cabling has been updated as well). I'm connected wirelessly with a very good connection about 20 feet away with an AC router (Linksys EA9500). I'd like to avoid using an additional streaming box and want to utilize the built in Android App. NO issues with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video,
For my source files I'm using something with this naming structure, so I didn't do the BluRay rip/encoding, they were done "for" me.
Captain America Civil War 2016 1080p BluRay x264 DTS-JYK.mkv
I have Plex clients on about 11 different devices throughout my home, none which exhibit this DTS behavior with this or similar files with DTS. I have a wide variety of tests I've tried on and I can't replicate the slight lip sync issue on any of them (5.1 system on xbox one, Amazon Fire, Fire TV, Android phone, iPhone, Android Tablets and the client being played through the TV speakers as well). I noticed that it DOESN'T get worse as the movie progresses, and this isn't solved by any setting that I can find on the TV menus, the client Plex settings, or Plex Media Server settings. If I pause and then play the movie, this doesn't help either. I also unhooked the sound bar to see if that is where the delay is, but the delay STILL occurs when hooked up to the TV speakers.
For reference, I installed Kodi on my TV and it is a hair better with these files. I am pointing to the uPNP server on Plex through to play the file on Kodi, so I THINK it's on the Plex Server Side of things. I've rebooted and upgraded PMS. Any known issues for fixing this very slight delay in my set up? ALL other files that **aren't ** native DTS play just fine with no issues. When I go to select audio source on the above file, it only gives me the DTS 5.1 option for my sound and that's about the amount of fine tuning I can do on the client side of things in the Android TV.
Help would be appreciated as my family loves the ease of use and the ability to have everything organized. Let me know if you need anything else (logs, etc, or how to pull them :) )
