Mac Mini running latest version of Plex server (with Retroplex).
For some random reason, the audio from Plex has been suddenly lowered drastically - seemed to happen overnight about 2.5 weeks ago. I've tried analog out (headphone port) to desktop speakers and HDMI out straight to TV speakers - in each case Plex has a low, low volume when playing music or movies. However, the "clicking" sound from the Plex interface would indicate that the volume is actually turned up (which is the case).
When I open those media files from the desktop in iTunes or VLC, the volume is extremely loud - so it is only when playing media files from Plex. I've tried poking around in the Settings-Audio but nothing seemed to help - and there's no option that I can see to lower only the volume of media.
Furthermore, I pulled out my Roku and tried it - no problems at all with volume level, plays exactly at normal volume. Switch back to the Mac client and on the same file, volume is half as loud.
Any thoughts?
(The only thing I wondered was that I have upgraded PMS on a regular basis - but just realized that although the iOS Plex client seems to upgrade regularly, I have never had to do so with the Mac client, and there does not seem to be any automatic-update feature. Does the Mac client update along with PMS updates, or does it need to be manually updated from the website or something?)
