Recently I tried to move my server to my PC. Remote users were reporting constant buffering issues with Plex so I've switched back and brought the buffering with me apparently. My Retina 5k iMac with 16GB of RAM (50mbps Ethernet) is more than enough to handle streaming a few 1080p movies. Now, outside of my local network, no one using any kind of media streaming device (anything that needs transcoding, I think) can get higher than 480 quality. The Windows users ignored my earlier request for help, I'm hoping my fellow Mac users will not stoop so low.
What I've tried:
Reset the Computer (permissions issues led to a format)
Reset the Router
Copy the Settings from the previous PMS
Start a new PMS (I'm now on my third).
Specs:
Fios 50mbps
4GHz i7 iMac
16GB RAM
70gb - free of SSD (where Plex resides)
6 HDDs of Media from a MediaSonic 8 Bay ProBox USB 3.0
Any advice going forward would be appreciated.
