I like to save energy by allowing my iMac to sleep when possible, even though it's being used as a Plex server. I've got it set up to wake whenever a LAN or internet client wants to stream (DD-WRT router + DDNS). However, I find that the iMac (El Capitan, latest version) doesn't stay awake while streaming. I can see via 'pmset -g assertions' that the Plex server generates the kernel assertion NoIdleSleepAssertion while streaming. Some research (such as this page) seems to indicate that NoIdleSleepAssertion has been deprecated in favor of PreventUserIdleSystemSleep, which is what most other applications seem to use, including iTunes when it is serving media to clients. Do other people running El Capitan find that their server sleeps while streaming? If a developer is reading this, any chance that a future update could be queued to generate PreventUserIdleSystemSleep while streaming?
