Over the past few days, I've noticed that the Mac mini that I use for Plex has been complaining that it's out of space on it's boot volume. I have a 1.25TB Fusion Drive and normally it has around 300GB free. I went looking where all my space was being used and tracked it down to /Library/Server/ServerDocs/Data, which was filled up with a bunch of PNG files, along with a few other file types as well. Most of the PNG files appeared to be the thumbnails that Plex shows in it's web interface and on the various devices (iPads, iPhones and Apple TVs). Overall, it was around 250GB of files.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I do have a dedicated external 5TB drive for Plex, so it was weird finding this directory on the boot volume being filled like this.
Here are the specs of what I have, in case it helps tracking down the issue:
- Mac mini, 2012, quad i7, 16GB RAM, Fusion Drive for boot volume (1TB HDD + 256GB SSD)
- OS X, El Capitan, 10.11.4
- OS X Server App, 5.1 (latest as of this time on the App Store)
- Plex up to date with latest version, 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475
- 4 external USB 3.0 5TB drives, 1 which is dedicated to Plex
For now, I've removed the files from that directory and nothing has shown up as of yet. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days to see if it returns.
