I feel like this should be so simple but is apparently very difficult if not impossible.
- I have a file I've added custom posters and metadata to.
- Then I move this file to a different folder or drive. Or I just change the folders name.
- Boom. All custom metadata destroyed.
- I move file back to the original location. Metadata still gone.
What's going on here? I've searched a few times now and all the steps I've seen for not losing this information don't work. I've done multiple tests trying to copy, move, add folders first, etc, etc. and no luck. Why go through the trouble to customize a library if any modifications you make are so precarious? I feel like I've got to be missing something here.
Why can't PLEX say "Hey, this looks exactly like this file I just had (or still have) in this location. Perhaps I should apply the custom metadata in the library to it!"
I mean it's not like people never get new drives, want to move their libraries, buy new computers or anything else right? Am I just being dense and don't see the obvious way that this is accomplished? I hope that's the case!
Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks!
