Got an older hackintosh I originally built in 2009 to serve as a plex server and tv front end. Since plex has gotten so modular I've left it on 24/7, and it now functions as a server, just transcoding for iOS, roku, and occasionally an android or chromecast device.
I just upgraded some things and installed 10.11, and all of a sudden its buffering all the time on videos it used to never struggle with at all. The now very lowly, E7500 gets a ~1800 passmark. I could upgrade the CPU to something in the low 4000's fairly cheaply, but I have reason to suspect that isn't the issue. The speed seems to stay well above 1, and I've always stuck to 720p not 1080 videos. Also the
I've tried changing the streaming quality locally on the roku and laptop, down to 386k
I do have the old OS cloned, and could go back pretty easily, but lots of groups are dropping support and I'd like to stay more up-to-date.
