Instructions for moving Plex files off Mac Hard-drive

Hi,
Hoping to get some help. Currently I have a MacBook Pro with only a 128gig HDD. Plex appears to be using about 30 gig of this in my 'user' folder for what I can only assume is database/posters and such. No media as such is stored on my HDD, rather that is located across various NAS and USB Connected external harddrives.

Can someone explain in simple terms how I get this Plex folder of Data onto another drive and make PMS recognise where this data is newly located? I've gathered from various posts that I should copy rather than move this huge folder onto the external harddrive, but otherwise I'm entirely unclear how to actually make Plex look at this new location rather than the current/old location. To be clear, I am not talking about media files (movies, TV music) but all these database/metadata etc files.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can explain this to the technically challenged. Please note I'm on a mac so windows instructions are no use to me.

Cheers
