I admit it's been a long while since I've tried to watch a movie on my iPad but now that I want to, it's not working. I see TLS and broken pipe errors in my server log similar to:
Feb 27, 2016 23:24:56 [0x70000073b000] ERROR - CERT: Error in TLS handshake: inappropriate fallback
Feb 27, 2016 23:24:56 [0x70000073b000] ERROR - CERT: Error in TLS handshake: inappropriate fallback
and
Feb 27, 2016 23:24:01 [0x70000073b000] ERROR - Error writing media: 32 - Broken pipe
When attempting to play a movie on my iPad. I've googled both errors and they seem to be quite prolific in the forums without any actual solutions. The movies play "fine" in a browser on the actual media server itself (Mac mini) - but they won't actually start playing until I fast forward a bit - but they do play. As of now, I have no idea what to do or what to check.
My movies are ALL m4v files encoded by Handbrake from MKV containers ripped from my DVDs. The last time I wanted to watch movies everything worked fine. Now, there appears to be something seriously wrong with the Plex app for iOS. I can stream the movie just fine via VLC - but that's not the point.
I'm a paying, lifetime member and I switched to (and paid for) Plex because I got sick of the shenanigans Apple made me due using iTunes as a media server but now I'm back in the same boat. I'm just really frustrated because I just expect this to work. The technology has been around long enough that this shouldn't happen.
