6 hours ago I didn't know what plex was, until I started searching for a way of accessing a hard drive connected to my Time capsule wi fi router, with an xbox, in order to replay movies stored thereon, on the television..
Sound complicated….?
It appeared Plex could do this, so I created an account and downloaded the plex media server app from the plex site to my macbook and pretty soon was creating a movie library, directed at the hard drive in question.. Made an attempt to access a movie, happy days..! So created a music library, successfully, but couldn't get anything to play… we trawled through settings, logged out, in, rebooted, nothing worked.. Wondered about the wireless connection to the laptop, so decided to run the server from the desktop, which has a wired connection to the net and the router.. This is where it all fell over…
I deleted the initial account and went into the desktop to do it all again, with new account details: email, username, password. I was again directed by the website to download the server app and did this several times, but it never ran… just a blink and nothing..
Can go into the plex web page, logon, launch, but the wheels just spin as a server can't be found…
As an aside: the confirmation email…? Got it, clicked on the "confirm" tab, but just get sent to a "resend confirmation details" page……??
It's all very strange and broken….
