Hello,
A few quick questions regarding playlists in Plex:
1) I noticed that whenever I play a FLAC album, it is transcoded to MP3. It makes sense when I'm using my cellular data for this purpose, but it happens in every possible scenario, including playing locally through ethernet and when using Wi-Fi (whether a local Wi-Fi or a remote one). This is, of course, something I would like change immediately.
2)) Where are the playlists actually stored? That is for the purpose of backing them up, manually.
3) Where is library data like "date added", "date played", play count, ratings and so on is kept? I want to backup those too.
3) Is there any kind of synchronization mechanism to the playlists that makes sure any changes whatsoever I apply to the files that were selected for a playlist, will be reflected and updated in the playlist? For example, when I:
a) Edit, with an external program like MP3TAG, for example, any ID3 tag whatsoever of a file that's already the playlist.
b) Through an operating system file manager: rename or move a file, or an entire folder, that are already in the playlist.
4) I edited some albums directly through the Plex web interface, using the conventional edit (that pencil icon) feature.
Are those edits not applied to the files themselves?
(when I played those tracks with an external player like foobar2000, the changes disappeared altogether. And also, the Plex-initiated edits did not trigger the Dropbox synchronization process, meaning that there were no changes applied to the files).
5) Correct me if I'm wrong: You CAN'T edit or delete library items (or make changes to libraries altogether) through the Plex iOS mobile apps?
My main server currently runs on OS X but I have another server running on a Synology NAS, so my questions refer to that platform as well.
Thanks.
